The 'Real' iPod Video

The 'Real' iPod Video

found at Engadget... I'm calling 'real', but some others, especially at Digg, want to think this is a fake. I mean, this is exactly what I've been expecting the new iPod to look like, given all the details from the patents Apple has filed that I've read speculations about at AppleInsider (especially the 'virtual click-wheel'). Also, Engadget is a reputable source - they were right about the last iPod too.

So, exciting news... and I'm voting 'real'. Oh yeah, and we should hear the announcement next Tuesday, Apple's special event scheduled for Feb 28.
Whoa. I'm posting from the Dashboard in OS X. Google's released widgets for Gmail, Blogger, and Search History. I'm just trying them out now...

Bush Befuddled

If you cannot convince them, confuse them.
- Harry S Truman

Dubya's got this down pretty well. I mean, he apparently doesn't even know what his administration is doing. Case in point: Bush recently gave a speech at Kansas State University (somewhere in the middle of this country), and welcoming questions a student inquired:

''Recently, $12.7 billion was cut from education . . . How is that supposed to help our futures?"
Bush: "Education budget was cut — say it again. What was cut?"
"$12.7 billion was cut from education. I’m wanting to know how is that supposed to help our futures?"
Bush: "At the federal level?"
"Yes"
Bush: "I don’t think we’ve actually — for higher education? Student loans?"
"Yes, student loans."
Bush: "Actually, I think what we did was reform the student loan program..."

I laughed briefly, as seemed appropriate since I was watching Jon Stewart present this on the Daily Show, but was more frustrated than anything. I calmed my nerves here, and I suggest you do the same. It's rather satisfying.

Ben Does Beatles Cover

album coverI found this last night: Ben Harper - Michelle (MP3)... it's Ben doing one of my favorite songs from Rubber Soul. This track was released on an album called This Bird Has Flown: 40th Anniversary Tribute To Rubber Soul If you really want to, you can find the album at iTunes, or better yet AllOfMp3.com. Hold on, what's this? I just found a podcast of the producer of the album talking about getting the artists together for this: Interview (MP3)

No Left Turn

Jake's taken me to my first raves the past two weekends. The first was a small one in SF, the second a bigger one in LA. One of the major differences I noticed was the amount of drugs I saw. Apparently the SoCal ravers do a lot more:

About half the people there were wearing pacifiers; We saw people doing lines of what was probably speed (we thought it was coke); Some girls sat next to me as the guy they were buying acid from dropped it on their tongues...

I guess I had a great time at both though, but the music that No Left Turn spun in LA was much better (he was too drunk in SF... he actually fell on the floor while mixing).

I haven't rolled yet...
